Time Crisis coming to PS4 & PS5 Next Week via PS+

Following the release of the G’AIM’E Light Gun system last year to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Time Crisis series, Namco is making a few more moves regarding the series, and has confirmed that as of next Tuesday, May 19th, the PS1 version of Time Crisis will be available on PS4 and PS5 as part of the PlayStation Plus Classics Catalog.

This version will have some graphical upgrades and extra options as well as all the other features that the games in the PS Classics catalog have, like save states and rewind features, and they also did some extra work to make the game work with gyro aiming on both platforms, which opens up some interesting possibilities with this version.

It hasn’t been confirmed yet whether this version will have trophy support or will allow direct purchase outside of the PS+ subscription (most PS1 games end up being $9.99 USD to purchase,) so we’ll have to confirm these details once it releases in a few days. Maybe it’s far-fetched, but it would be an interesting turn of events if the folks over at G’AIM’E were able to get the gun working on PS4 or PS5 for use with this release for some extra functionality, but this is not something that’s been confirmed at all.

We’ll be doing extensive testing of this version for a full review once it’s out, testing for functionality with different types of controllers, including things like the PS Move and PS Aim controllers, as well as general performance and features, so stay tuned for those details next week. In the meantime, you can also check out our full retrospective on the Time Crisis series if you haven’t yet, and let us know if you’ll be trying this out for yourself next week!
